5 Nigerian celebrities criticized for over-editing their photos

Photo editing is basically part and parcel of social media and picture taking today. Either through the use of filters, or body augmenting apps and software like Facetune and Photoshop, editing one’s photo has almost become a mandatory step for many people before they release their pictures into the internet.

Now, while many people do edit their photos, there has always been one guiding principle with it: don’t do too much. The job of photo editing is to enhance photos not completely change the people in the photos. But sometimes, that is what happens. Sometimes, people go way too far with the photoshopping, and sometimes the people who do just so happen to be Nollywood celebrities. 1. Eniola Badmus

This is by far to me one of the worst photo editing jobs because not only is the edit so obvious, it’s now also so bad. Eniola’s legs in the photo are so badly edited that it even upon first look, it stands out in a way it shouldn’t. As you can imagine, Nigerians were very vocal about their thoughts on the edit. One user wrote: “This editing is bad naaa..your shoe did not show well self ..and your legs looks somehow after the editing“, while another said, “Why u edit ur leg like this “. These were just a few of the many comments about the picture.

2. Tonto Dikeh

Nigerian actress Tonto Dikeh is one who definitely loves to edit her pictures, especially moreso in recent times. There have been times when I’ve been scrolling on my feed, and if not for the fact that the username of the account says Tonto, I would not know that it was her I was looking at. Recently, she uploaded yet another heavily edited picture of herself and you can already trust people in the comments to give their two cents. One user said: “Keep on using makeup and filter to filter your face that’s how they’re going to filter you from the election that is coming“, another said “FaceTune po ” and these are just a few of the comments.

3. Toke Makinwa

This is a very nice picture to me personally, but when Toke Makinwa uploaded this to social media, people immediately had a lot to say about the Photoshop job. One user said: “You snap picture from abroad, you still dey do photoshop editing. Europe for that matter. God abeg o! ” while another said “This is Photoshop not skin care “

4. Nengi Hampson

Another celebrity who was bashed for over-editing her photos is Big Brother Naija star, Nengi Hampson. When this picture was uploaded to social media, people had a lot of thoughts. One person said, “She looks beautiful but the makeup and editing has gone way overboard ” while another said “This is not natural beauty. She looks like a cartoon“

5. Mercy Eke

The final person on today’s list is Big Brother Naija star Mercy Eke who uploaded this picture to social media and was met with quite a lot of talk about her editing. One user said: “Photoshop!!can’t u snapp pictures without editing it to smoot ur body..nawaoo snapp picture as u re and let us appreciate it..stop this photoshop and picture enhancements things” while another said” while another called her “Rainbow“.
